Ukraine, security and defence, rearmament, as well as the tragic situation in Gaza, protests in Türkiye, and “targeted attacks against Christians in the Democratic Republic of the Congo”. These are some of the topics on the agenda of the plenary session of the European Parliament that will start in Strasbourg on Monday, 31 March, and will continue until Thursday, 3 April. On Tuesday, MEPs will assess the results of the 20 March European Council in a debate with Presidents António Costa and Ursula von der Leyen. On the same day, the EP will discuss the objectives of the common foreign, defence and security policy for 2025 with High Representative Kaja Kallas, and will then vote on two related resolutions on Wednesday. On Wednesday, MEPs will discuss the adequacy of the EU’s cross-border transport infrastructure amid the threat of Russia’s war against Ukraine, including in relation to military needs. On Thursday, discussion will focus on the current situation in the Congo, where violent attacks are being perpetrated against Christian communities. The title of the debate is: “Defending religious freedom and security”. A resolution is then expected to be voted on.
