EU Parliament: Yes to “ReArm Europe”. Russia and its allies are a threat to Europe. Condemnation of US threats against Greenland

(Strasbourg) According to the resolution adopted today by the European Parliament on the Commission’s “White Paper” on defence, Europe is facing “the most profound military threat to its territorial integrity since the end of the Cold War”. For this reason, EU Member States, international partners and NATO allies are urged to “lift all restrictions on the use of Western weapons systems delivered to Ukraine against military targets in Russian territory”. Russia, supported by its allies including Belarus, China, North Korea and Iran, is “the most significant direct and indirect threat to the EU and its security”, according the text. MEPs point out that the recent statements and actions of the Trump administration “have further increased concerns about the future stance of the US vis-à-vis Russia, NATO and the security of Europe”. At the same time, MEPs “strongly condemn US threats against Greenland”.
