The Bishops’ Conference of Portugal (CEP) will be meeting this morning till Thursday May 1st inclusive for its plenary assembly at the House of Our Lady of Sorrows at the shrine of Fatima. The Assembly was opened yesterday afternoon by a speech of the President of the Lusitanian Bishops, mgr. José Ornelas. As written in the agenda published by the Bishops’ Conference, the plenary assembly will deal with a number of issues, including a reflection in the “synodal style” about the situation of seminaries in Portugal, an update on the Jubilee 2025 activities and events, a review of pastoral documents on the “Living Liturgy of the Church”, the “Primacy of persons and their conscience” and the “Family”, as well as appointments in their own committees and the approval of the 2024 financial report submitted by the secretariat-general. In addition, during the Assembly, a Eucharistic celebration in suffrage for the soul of Pope Francis is due to take place at the Marian shrine of Fatima.
