The number of migrants disembarked in Italy from 1 January 2017 to 14 August, is down by 4.15% compared to those who arrived in the same period of 2016. To date, in fact, 97,293 migrants have arrived in Italy by sea compared to 101,507 last year. The data is from the Interior Ministry which underlines that especially in the last two days the landings have in fact disappeared. In the month of August alone, if the landings were 21,294 in 2016, to date they have fallen to 2,080. The trend in July was no different, which had seen 23,552 arrivals last year compared to 11,459 this year. The ports most affected by the landings are those of Augusta (13,820 arrivals), followed by Catania, Pozzallo, Reggio Calabria, Vibo Valentia and Palermo. Also according to the data of the Interior Ministry, the countries of origin of those arriving on our coasts are Nigeria (16,559 people), Bangladesh (8,728), Guinea (8,683), Ivory Coast (8,053), Mali (5,615) and Eritrea 5.592. The minors arrived by sea, however, were 12,656 this year while they were 25,846 in all last year.
