(Brussels) Today, the European Commission has adopted a new State aid framework supporting the Clean Industrial Deal, to enable member states to “push forward the development of clean energy, industrial decarbonisation and clean technology”. Teresa Ribera (in the photo), Executive Vice-President for Clean, Just and Competitive Transition, explains: “If Europe wants to lead in clean tech, we must act with courage and clarity. The new framework simplifies and speeds up support for decarbonisation, but it goes further: it recognises the state as a strategic investor in our future”. It is, she added, “a tool to drive climate ambition, strengthen Europe’s resilience, and ensure our industry remains globally competitive. And we do this while defending the integrity of our Single Market, avoiding distortions, and making our energy systems more stable, affordable, and fair.”. The State aid framework supporting the Clean Industrial Deal sets out the conditions under which Member States can grant support for certain investments and objectives in line with EU State aid rules. The framework will be in place until 31 December 2030, giving Member States and businesses long-term predictability.
